The Seattle Sounders are taking on the Portland Timbers on Wednesday in their third meeting of the 2020 MLS regular season. Here is everything you need to know.
WHEN AND WHERE: Kickoff is at 7 p.m. PT at Providence Park in Portland, Ore.
WHERE TO WATCH: The match will be televised on JOEtv and Prime Video.
WHERE TO LISTEN: The match will air on 950 KJR AM and El Rey 1360 AM.
2020 RECORDS AND STANDINGS: Sounders: 6-2-3 (21 points, 1st West), Timbers: 5-4-3 (18 points, 5th West)
FORM GUIDE (most recent first): Seattle: WWLDW, Portland: WDLWL
ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders are 12-9-6 all time against the Timbers in the MLS regular season, including a 4-6-3 mark on the road.
PREVIOUS MEETING: The Timbers came to CenturyLink Field on Sept. 6 and won 2-1 behind a 9th-minute opener from Eryk Williamson and an 83rd-minute match-winner from Felipe Mora. Kelvin Leerdam equalized just before halftime for the Sounders, who outshot the Timbers 15-8 and had 65 percent possession.
ROAD WARRIORS: Once upon a time, neither team in this fixture could muster a point at the home of their rival. But dating back to June 2018, the road team has won each of the last six MLS regular-season matches in this series.
RELIABLE RUIDÍAZ: Some players shy away from big moments and matches. Sounders forward Raúl Ruidíaz is not one of them. Since joining the Sounders in summer 2018, the Peruvian Designated Player has seven goals and two assists in seven career games against Portland.
WATCH ON PRIME VIDEO
NICO MAKES HISTORY: With his two penalty kick goals against LAFC last week, Nicolás Lodeiro set an all-time MLS record for most PK goals without a miss. The midfield maestro is now 14-for-14 in the MLS regular season.

SEBA SIDELINED: Timbers winger Sebastián Blanco is out for the rest of the 2020 season after tearing his ACL against the Sounders on Sept. 6. Blanco’s loss is a big one for the Timbers, as the Argentine winger had two goals and five assists in nine matches this season and was a major catalyst in Portland’s MLS is Back tournament title.
DOMINANT DIEGO: Timbers playmaker Diego Valeri is coming off a two-goal, one-assist performance that earned him MLS Player of the Week. The former league MVP now has six goals in 11 appearances this season after tallying eight all of last year.
EARTHQUAKE ANNIHILATION: The Timbers are coming off a record-setting 6-1 win over the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday, just a week after the Sounders set their own club record for goals in a 7-1 win over the ‘Quakes.

2020.09.22 17:51 LJWill91 I am 29 years old, make $170,000 base (plus $30-40,000 bonus and $30,000 vesting stock), live in Seattle and work as a Creative Project Manager in Tech

A little about me: I'm 29, British and Queer :) I moved from England to the US as part of a work transfer three years ago and love Seattle. My life has changed a lot over the past few years, I realized I was gay, moved to Seattle, stopped talking to my toxic mum, had a lotttttt of therapy and moved in with my partner, L. My financial knowledge has gone from 0-60 in the past three years thanks to personalfinance, a few finance books and moneydiariesactive. I'm an open book so ask any qs you'd like! I hope you enjoy!
Section One: Assets and Debt
Net Worth: $283,000
Retirement Balance:
401k $30,000
UK 401k $22,000
Index Funds $155,000
(Tip: I used the bankrate.com retirement calculator to figure out how much I actually need to invest for retirement each year. This really cleared up what I need to invest as a minimum each year to hit my retirement target, before I can decide what to live off and save for shorter term purchases e.g. a house.)
Equity if you're a homeowner:
$52,000 in an apartment in the UK (worth $275,000) that I’m selling right now. I bought it with my ex-boyfriend five years ago and loved living there at the time, but owning it since moving to the US has been a bad idea – it hasn’t gone up in value at all since I purchased in 2015, the rent my tenants pay doesn’t cover the mortgage and it requires lots of costly maintenance.
When I bought it, I received $12,000 towards a down payment from my mum. I have three brothers and I'm expecting brothers 2 and 3 to receive the same, but not brother 1, so I'm planning to give half of the $12,000 to him when the sale goes through.
Also, when I sell, I either owe $0, $15,000 or $30,000 to the US government as part of a tax law that assumes I've made profit because of changing exchange rates. Every accountant I speak to has a different answer, so let's see in January! At some point I'll use the rest of the money towards a down payment for a house in the US.
Savings account balance:
Emergency Fund $17,500
Holiday Fund $7,000
Fun Money $4500 (I might end up investing half of this in index funds)
Fund to cover capital gains tax for my 2020 tax bill $2029
Checking account balance:
I leave $1,500 per pay check in my account for living costs, plus enough to cover my rent and bills. I pay for all of my living costs on an Amex Delta credit card to get points and pay it off in full each month.
Credit card debt: $0
Student loan debt: $0. I completed a music degree in England (this cost $35,000 for three years of tuition, rent and living costs). My parents paid for my tuition, rent and 50% of my living costs, and I worked for them during the holidays to cover 50% of my living costs. Once I joined the working world, I realized how much of a big deal it was that they paid for my education and what a head start it gave me having no student debt. I am very grateful.
Anything else that’s applicable to you:
I had a privileged start, my parents paid for my education and I received $12,000 towards a house down payment. I graduated from University at 21, and whilst I have been financially independent since then, there is an emotional safety net that comes with knowing I could go home to my Dad if I needed to.
After working in England from 21-26, I moved to Seattle with $20,000 saved for retirement, $40,000 in my UK apartment and no other savings. My salary doubled moving to the US and as a result I’ve been able to save a lot over the past few years. A few years ago, my Dad suggested I read How To Own The World. It gave me a really great introduction to lots of different aspects of finance (inflation, saving, types of accounts, retirement etc) so I read a few other finance books, started following personalfinance and have had a massive shift in my attitude towards finances.
Section Two: Income and Income Progression
I graduated with a music degree aged 21 and decided that, although I loved music, I wasn't passionate enough to fight for a career in such a competitive field. Instead, I decided I'd like to explore a career that involved lots of people interaction and could pay well: sales. Since then I've ended up working in sales, marketing and engineering, all in tech.
- 2013 - $25,000 - I joined a tech company as a sales graduate selling Healthcare software. Direct selling wasn't a great match for my skillset.
- 2014 - $37,000 plus $30,000 in commission - After nine months, my manager suggested I moved to a technical sales role in the same company and I was given a $12,000 raise. I loved this role! Lots of presenting in formal sales processes.
- 2015 - $47,000 plus $30,000 bonus - After playing a major part in $3.5 million in sales in one year, I negotiated an additional $10,000.
- 2016 - $70,000 plus $30,000 bonus and a $5,000 stock award (vesting over 5 years) - I moved to a big tech company in a similar technical sales role and my salary jumped significantly.
- 2018 - $137,000 plus $30,000 bonus, an end of year $25,000 stock award (vesting over 5 years) and a one off $25,000 stock award for good performance (vesting over five years) - I relocated with the same company to the US in a marketing role and my salary doubled!
- 2019 - $160,000 plus $30,000 bonus and a $25,000 stock award (vesting over 5 years) - I took a new role in engineering as a Creative PM and my salary increased by 15%. A major driver for moving was being told promotions were off the table in my old team unless you had been in role for three years.
- 2020 - $170,000 plus $42,000 bonus and a $48,500 stock award (vesting over five years) - I was promoted in role and my salary increased.
It blows my mind that I earn this much money for a role that I enjoy so much. I'm very lucky.
Main Job Monthly Take Home: $8,500 per month, after maxing my 401k, contributing $510 to my HSA and healthcare/taxes etc.
Any Other Income:
Having received stock awards every year for the past 5 years, I now have stock vesting every year that adds up to about $30,000 pre-tax. I immediately sell and invest in diversified index funds via Vanguard to minimize the risk that would come with having a large amount of my savings in the same company that pays my paycheck (if the company tanks, I'd lose my job and the stock would plummet in value).
I also receive an annual bonus of between 15-30%. This year it was 27% (an amazing, unexpected surprise), it’s usually around 20%. Last year I invested 90% and spent 10% on a vacation to Japan. This year it was a lot higher, so I invested 66%, saved 21% for moving costs/vacations next Summer and kept the rest as a fun fund.
I also get $1050 in rent for my UK apartment, but the mortgage is $1150, so I make a loss.
Other:
My income is completely separate to my partner, L. We take turns paying for groceries/meals out/trips and assume it evens out to 50/50. Right now, I earn a lot more than L, who is a medical resident and earns about $100,000, with no student debt, but we both live off about the same amount per year as I'm focused so heavily on investing.
Section Three: Expenses
Rent and utilities: $1,300/month for my half of a two bed, two bath in Fremont. I moved in with L, last month and we split the rent 50/50. Previously my rent was $2060/month for an open one bed in the Capitol Hill.
Extra costs for UK mortgage/management company fees: $500
Investment/savings: Until this month, I was investing $2,000- $2,500. Now that I’ve reached my investment target for the year (a combination of my bonus, savings and vested stock), I’m re-routing that to a savings fund in a HYSA for next Summer. I’m planning to relocate to the East Coast with L, and hoping to take the summer off between jobs.
Donations: $130/month to Black Lives Matter, Save the Children, an LGBT charity in England and a COVID relief fund. These are also matched by my employer 100%.
Cellphone: $30 in a shared plan with some friends
Wifi: $60 Subscriptions: Netflix $15, Amazon $14, AppleCare $12
Regular therapy: $160/month for two sessions with my UK therapist and $180/session roughly every 2-3 weeks with my tantra coach.
Living: I budget $3000 per month for living, therapy and tantra.
COVID-19: In current COVID times in Seattle, cases are being managed well by the city, we are in phase 2 and can meet up with 5 people per week who aren't in our household network and can go to restaurants with people in our household.
Tuesday:
7am - Bonus day! I start to think about what to do with some of the money in my fun fund. On my wishlist: Glittery Dr Martens 🥾, a vacuum that also steams floors, everything on the Olive website and lift tickets for 🎿 over winter.
8am - Work work work work work 🎶 Every day starts with calls with my team in India to review their product configuration progress. My role focuses around writing product pitches/demonstrations that sellers will deliver to customers. My days are spent talking to sellers about common customer requests, writing narratives to present the value of the products and designing screens to be built by my engineers/consultants.
9am - I spend $50 on an Amazon order for 🧼,🧴and English 🍫.
12pm - I accidentally start a small kitchen fire heating some heat pads in L’s dutch oven. The fire department was involved🔥😭
2pm - I have a call with a design lead about potential roles in their team. I'd love to expand my skillset into videos and 🙋🏼‍♀️
3pm - Our Imperfect Foods box arrives. This week we got eggs, veggies, fruits, goats cheese and gnocchi. $25, but I paid for this last week.
5pm - I go for an early dinner with L at Manolin to celebrate my bonus/destress after the fire🍴🍷 Restaurants are open in Seattle at 50% capacity and everyone wears masks. I pay. $150
8pm - Listen to records with L 🎶 and fall asleep at 9.30.
Total: $200
Wednesday:
8am - More calls, more feedback, more unblocking the engineers👩🏼‍💻
10am - I FaceTime catch up with my Dad ❤️ He just bought a house in the English countryside with his partner, L, and he gives me more excited updates about how renovations are going.
2pm - I get some excellent feedback about yesterday’s call, the manager wants me in his team 🙌🏻
6pm - Vegetarian taco night and cocktails with L ❤️🌮
8pm - I order a replacement pan after destroying L’s. $198
8.30pm - We start watching Normal People 📺
Total: $198
Thursday:
10am - My youngest brother schedules his first therapy appointment! 🙌🏻 I have three brothers and two are at high school or university and aren’t working. I believe we would all benefit from therapy, so this year I offered to pay for both of them. Now all four of us have been at some point ❤️ $59
12pm - Fire fighting at work, trying to fix products that keep breaking in time to deliver product demos to sellers next week 🔥💻
3pm - I do a trial recording with my colleague for a broadcast next week. 🎥🎞 The broadcast goes out to somewhere between 250,000-1,000,000 people. The broadcast is usually in a studio, but because of covid we’re shooting at home this time.
5pm - L comes home with a cuuuute new haircut 💁🏻‍♀️ and a new burner ring for our stove after it was damaged in the 🔥. L pays.
7pm - We make pizzas 🍕 and talk about what time togetheco existing/apart looks like for each of us. Moving in together is big and it helps to understand what makes each other feel good/not so good. The conversation is emotional and really helpful.
Total: $59
Friday:
8am - I have a morning of calls with India/England/US agreeing next steps/fire fighting 🔥
11am - I reflect on how writing a money diary is making me feel guilty about spending money, even if my “normal” spending fits into my budget and my “fun” spending comes from my bonus. One to talk about in therapy I think.
4pm - Another busy afternoon jumping between calls. A good rehearsal for the broadcast ✔️ good feedback on our demo content ✔️ next week planned out in Outlook ✔️
5pm - I meet with my tantra coach for a two hour session. I originally started going to see them to learn more about sex (🙌🏻) but have learned that tantra is much bigger than that, it’s an eastern tradition that is centered around connecting with your heart and body and being present. It’s had a massive impact on my ability to get out of my head. Today we focused on simple body exercises to get me more connected to my body. $200
7pm - L started a 30 hour shift this morning so I have a solo date night ❤️ bath-time + Quorn chicken nugget wraps (I love eating in the bath 😆) + TikTok ✌🏻
Total: $200
Saturday:
8am - I wake up and listen to Jameela Jamil and Katherine Ryan in the iWeigh podcast.
9am - I meditate 🧘🏼‍♀️. I started meditating 3-7 times per week six months ago using the Headspace app and it was a great intro. I’ve been resisting meditating for the past two weeks, and going to see my tantra coach has given me the umph to start again today. I do 20 minutes unguided.
10am - L comes home from work and we catch up before they sleep 💤 I spend the day in the bath, reading The Untethered Soul, eating fake sausage patties, eggs and sautéed tomatoes on toast, on reddit, watching Normal People and napping 🛀📚
6pm - I see my two best friends, N&V, a queer couple in Seattle ❤️ they know how to make me feel loved and buy all of my favorite foods for dinner ❤️ I uber there and back wearing a mask. $30
Total: $30
Sunday:
10am - I spend the morning eating eggs, veggies and fake chorizo, reading The Untethered Soul and The Simple Path to Wealth in the bath, and meditating.
1pm - I FaceTime my Dad and his partner, L ❤️
2pm - L and I spend the afternoon watching Ratchet, snoozing and walking to Gas Works park to get some fresh air.
6.30pm - We cook veggie bolognese with gnocchi and have some quality time after a crazy month of shifts for L.
10pm - L crashes and I order a Dyson vacuum with some of my bonus money #thisis29. $385
Total: $385
Monday:
7am - I wake up and meditate🧘🏼‍♀️
8am - Catch up calls with the India team. I have a fairly slow morning after that, agreeing deliverables for the week with our team.
12pm - I make sweet potato tacos for lunch using up ingredients in the fridge 🙌🏻🌮
4pm - I do a recording for the broadcast on Wednesday. Oh hey there hair, makeup and formal work clothes, where have you been hiding? 💄
5.30pm - L and I listen to a Lake Street Dive concert online on the porch 🎵
7.30pm - L buys groceries and we head for a socially distanced picnic outside.
Total: $0
Food + Drink: $160
Fun / Entertainment: $0
Home + Health: $644
Clothes + Beauty: $40
Transport: $30
Other: $198
Weekly Total: $1072
Lastly, reflect on your diary!
Writing this diary was good for me! It made me see some of the small, happy moments that happen each day.
All in all, apart from the vacuum that I bought with my bonus, this is average spending for me. I'm very conscious of not spending more than $700/week. This means if I have more expensive days, like days when I have to pay for therapy or tantra, I'll make sure I balance it out on other days.
I feel incredibly lucky that I have a high salary that gives me an incredibly good quality of life and enables me to save for the future. I have an "it's too good to be true" fear, so I'm focused on investing a lot right now to set myself up long term.

2020.09.21 23:13 Arizona-Cardinals NOTES FROM THE CARDINALS 30-15 VICTORY VS. WASHINGTON (9/20/20)

• The Cardinals defeated Washington 30-15 in Arizona’s 2020 home opener at State Farm Stadium on Sunday. The Cardinals have now started a season 2-0 for the first time since 2015 and just the sixth time in the last 30 seasons (2020, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2008, 1991).
• With the victory on Sunday, Arizona improved to 10-5 in home-openers at State Farm Stadium.

Seattle Children’s Autism Blog
The Seattle Children’s Autism Center is one of the foremost of its kind in the country, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that its official blog is one of the best of its kind. The blog features all kinds of helpful information for parents of children with autism, including encouraging stories, how-to’s, tips for keeping one’s patience and sanity, and even a blogcast.
Stimeyland
There are dozens of excellent blogs written by parents of children with autism. There are far fewer blogs written by autistic parents of autistic children. But Stimeyland is one of those rare blogs. Stimey’s experiences as an autistic parent herself provide readers with a unique perspective on common challenges, major triumphs in life, and recently, her daughter’s coming out as transgender.
Squidalicious
Squidalicious is the popular autism blog of Shannon Rosa, a self-proclaimed geek, and mother of the teenage Leo, who has autism. Shannon’s blog is often humorous in tone, even as she writes about the challenges she and Leo face, new information (and misinformation) in the world of autism, and even politics.
Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism
For those who wish to immerse themselves in an informative blog with evidence-based articles on autism, look no further than Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism. The blog posts approximately four in-depth articles per month, each of which is written by an autism parent or autism professional.

• With the victory on Sunday, Arizona improved to 5-2 at Levi’s Stadium. The Cardinals also improved to 9-2 in their last 11 games against the 49ers.
• The Cardinals (who trailed 13-10 entering the fourth quarter) were one of six teams to come back to win after trailing in the fourth quarter on Kickoff Weekend (Chicago, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, the Los Angeles Chargers and Washington). That is the most fourth-quarter comeback victories on Kickoff Weekend since 2016 (nine teams). • Arizona trailed 10-0 early and entered the fourth quarter trailing 13-10 but went on to earn the comeback victory. Arizona reached 400+ yards just once over the two seasons combined (2017-18) prior to Kingsbury’s arrival. • The Cardinals posted 404 total yards and 29 first downs against San Francisco. It marked just the fourth time in franchise history the team had 400+ total net yards and 25+ first downs in a season-opener.

DEFENSE MAKES A BIG STAND – TWICE

• The Cardinals offense posted eye-popping numbers in the victory over San Francisco, but it was the defense that made a pair of stands to change the momentum and ultimately seal the victory. • Trailing 10-7 early in the second quarter, San Francisco had a 4th-n-goal from inside the AZ one-yard line when LBs Devon Kennard and De’Vondre Campbell (both signed as free agents in the offseason) teamed up to stop 49ers RB Raheem Mostert on a run up the middle.
• With the Cardinals holding a 24-20 lead with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, San Francisco had the ball 3rd-n-5 at the AZ 16-yard line. QB Jimmy Garoppolo attempted a pair of passes to WR Trent Taylor: the third down attempt was batted down by second-year CB Byron Murphy Jr. in the end zone. The fourth down sideline pass was enough for a first down but was again batted down by a diving Murphy.
• Arizona’s defense held the 49ers to just two conversions on 11 third down attempts (18%) and also stopped San Francisco on both fourth down conversion attempts on Sunday. Yesterday’s game marked the second time in the last three games under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph that the Cardinals held an opponent to two or fewer conversions on third down (Seattle was 1-for-12 on third down in Week 16 last season).

2020.09.11 17:32 Rsubs33 [Game Preview] Week 1 - Philadelphia Eagles(0-0) at Washington Football Team (0-0)

Philadelphia Eagles (0-0) at the Washington Football Team
The 2020 Philadelphia Eagles season is the franchise's 88th season in the National Football League and the fifth under head coach Doug Pederson. The Eagles will try to improve on their 9–7 record from 2019 where they made the playoffs, but lost in the NFC Divisional game against the Seattle Seahawks. They will begin that journey Sunday afternoon as they take a trip down 95 to face off against the division rival with a new name Washington Football Team. To go with the name they also have a new coach in Ron Rivera who is looking for a fresh start after spending the last nine years as the Head Coach of the Carolina Panthers. Rivera inherits a defense that has 4 first round picks on the defensive line that will be facing off against an injury riddled offensive line of the Eagles as they will be without starting LT Andre Dillard and starting All-Pro RG Brandon Brooks. The Eagles bought back former LT Jason Peters who will look to protect Carson Wentz’s blind side. IF the Eagles OL is able to give Wentz time, he proved last year against the WTF that he has great chemistry with Jackson who has torched his former team in the past. Defensively Eagles fans will get their first look at their revamped secondary which will include Pro Bowler Darius Slay and Jalen Mills at safety. They will look to keep Terry McLaurin under control as he burnt the Eagles secondary in both games last season with long TDs. If the Eagles can get a lead early, I think their defense should be able to keep Dwayne Haskins under control and force the second year QB into some turnovers. Always fun to start the season vs a division rival and happy to have some football again in these crazy times. Go Birds!

Eagles 37 - Washington Football Team 27
The Eagles looked to keep their playoff hopes alive and and opened up the scoring with a Jake Elliot FG in the first quarter. The lead was short lived as Dwayne Haskins hooked up with Terry McLaurin for a 75 yard touchdown pass. The Eagles went into half-time trailing 10-14, but took back the lead in the 3rd quarter on a Miles Sanders TD reception that put the Eagles up 17-14. The Eagles and Washington Football Team traded TD passes in the 4th quarter before the Washington Football Team regained the league with a pair of Dustin Hopkins FGs put the Washington Football Team's up 24-27. Carson Wentz answered the call leading the Eagles on a four and half minute 75 yard touchdown drive that culminated in a Greg Ward TD reception. The Eagles defense forced a fumble on the ensuing drive which was returned for a TD by Nigel Bradham for a nail in the coffin putting the Eagles up 10 with no time on the clock to give the Eagles the win.

Fletcher Cox has 12.5 sacks in 16 career games vs. Washington, which are his most against any NFL team and the most by any NFL player vs. Washington since 2012. Only four players have more sacks vs. Washington since 1982: Lawrence Taylor (19.0, 1982-93), Michael Strahan (17.0, 1994-2007), Justin Tuck (15.0, 2005-13) and Simeon Rice (14.0, 1996-2005).

PFF Stats to Know
Play Action Passing
[Threshold = QBs with at least 20% snap count of the QB with the highest snap count of Play Action for the season] In the 2019-2020 season, no QB had a worse completion rate via Play Action than WFT’s Dwayne Haskins at 54.9% and only 2 others had worse such Passer Rating. For comparison, the Eagles’ Carson Wentz was at the top of the bottom 3rd in both metrics. Whereas has Wentz fared near the top of Play Action % of snaps during his NFL tenure and his completion % and Passer Rating have both ranked near the top in each of ‘16-‘18, in 2019 he did not do well in that respect. How Wentz performs in Play Action with injuries at the OL and WR positions, as well as how much the coaching staff will even ask him to turn his back to this particular DL and keep it...I’m not sure.
Matchups to Watch
Washington Defensive Line vs Eagles Offensive Line
NFL battles always start in the trenches and this is perhaps the biggest advantage the WFT has against the Eagles in this Week 1 tilt. Washington always had a formidable front that lead to intriguing battles between the two teams but the addition of Chase Young and the injuries the Eagles have already sustained make this match up concerning for Philly. The Eagles projected Week 1 starting OL prior to the injuries was, from left to right: Dillard, Seumalo, Kelce, Brooks, and Lane Johnson. Now, the Eagles will start: Peters, Seumalo, Kelce, TBD, TBD. Lane Johnson has practiced everyday this week in a limited capacity which makes me believe that he'll start but it's an uneasy feeling knowing he's working his way back from injury too. The logical guess at RG is Matt Pryor, but they've also tried out Nate Herbig in practice. Either way, the Eagles have a massive downgrade at RG with Brandon Brooks out. Fortunately, the Eagles may have accidentally upgraded in the short term with Jason Peters at LT but the depth in the trenches is already spread too thin. The Eagles are lucky to be as deep as they are on the OL given they aren't totally screwed (yet) but the current state of line makes this a very formidable match up for the Football Team (get a damn team name, jerks) to take advantage of. Additionally, they aren't just deep at EDGE, they are deep at DT as well. Payne, Allen, and Ioannidis are very stout and capable of dominating opposing OLs. Washington's roster is very thin but it isn't on the defensive line. They have more than enough ammunition to put the Eagles in difficult situations. This mismatch will force the coaching staff to be creative in their run designs and how they give help to the OL in pass protection.
Washington Secondary vs Eagles Passing Attack
The Eagles much beleaguered WR room went through a mini-makeover in the offseason and a lot of new, young, and fast faces were added to the mix. What they lack in proven talent, outside of DeSean Jackson's return, they make up for in athleticism. One thing Howie Roseman said this offseason was he was frustrated with the lack of speed on the team. It took him a while to understand that athleticism does matter. It's not just that the new group of receivers are fast, but they all have strong overall athletic profiles. But as previously mentioned, this is an unproven group going up against a very weak opposition. WFT brought back Kendall Fuller this offseason, who was a real good jack-of-all-trades player in the secondary for the Chiefs last season. His status for Sunday is questionable given his limited participation this week in practice. Opposite him is former Eagles favorite Ronald Darby. If I'm Doug Pederson, I make it a point to go after him all day. Even when Darby is at his best, which isn't often these days, he has absolutely zero ball skills. Washington may play Fabian Moreau if Fuller can't go, which is another defender the Eagles should target. Jimmy Moreland and Landon Collins are quality players, more so the latter, but they can't hide the deficiencies that should be easily exploitable by the Eagles. Remember, Philly put up over 30 in week 15 last year with less in the WR room than they currently have against a secondary that really isn't better than it was then. If Jalen Reagor is able to go, that would add another dimension to this offense the Eagles have lacked for a long time. If the Eagles can do a good enough job slowing down Washington's front, they are more than capable of picking apart a subpar secondary. And I didn't even talk about Ertz and Goedert! Or Miles Sanders through the air!
Washington Offensive Line vs Eagles Defensive Line
Despite the current injury limitations on the Eagles defensive line, this is a matchup that heavily favors the Eagles. Haskins finished 2019 on a positive note in his last 3 starts prior to his ankle injury; one thing he's never been known for is his pocket ability and ability to avoid taking sacks. Put a statue behind a bad offensive line and you are going to have issues. Trent Williams is now gone having finally forced his way out and his logical replacement, rookie Shaadiq Charles, isn't likely to play in week 1. Wes Martin, their starting left guard, is a below average player himself. The only player on the Washington Football Team's offensive line that is good is Brandon Scherff. While the Eagles aren't 100% on the defensive line, they are one of the few teams in the NFL with likely more talent and depth on their defensive line than the Washington Football Team's. Barnett has been limited in practice and has missed the last few weeks with another injury and his status is questionable while Hargrave is likely to miss a couple games as well. The Eagles still have Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, the return of Malik Jackson, and a lot more to throw at this beleaguered unit. Additionally, this is a defensive front that is always stingy against the run under Jim Schwartz even when the DL isn't at peak health. There are a lot of matchups to exploit and Schwartz has a lot of options to exploit them. For his faults as a coordinator with secondary scheming, Schwartz is a God at maximizing the talents of his pass rushers. Given the current state of the Washington OL and Haskins own difficulties under pressure, this is a juicy match up for Philly.
Washington Passing Attack vs Eagles Pass Defense
Washington is incredibly thin and young at the skill positions but that isn't the sort of thing that has deterred the Eagles from allowing big plays in the past. This is a secondary, and really a pass defense in general, that went through a major shake up this offseason and for good reason. The Eagles defense was pretty average per DVOA which was encouraging given what they had, but they consistently allowed big play after big play in 2019. Opposing WR1s absolutely shredded Philadelphia last season as they were automatic monsters against an overmatched, elementary secondary. Darius Slay and NRC were added to the mix and should provide immediate help to this unit. Avonte Maddox will start at CB2; while this is an iffy move, the additions of Slay and NRC should allow the Eagles to help him out a bunch. The Eagles finally have players that can play in man coverage and one of the best CBs in the league in shadow coverage. Schwartz has admitted that he will allow Slay to shadow receivers but likely not 100% of the time. This makes sense as it should be a matchup-specific thing... this is that time. Furthermore, allowing Slay to shadow receivers will lead to considerable scheme changes on defense as they can't play the coverages they've played the last four years while shadowing receivers. What does this look like and how quickly does it come together? Terry McLaurin is the only real commodity at receiver for Washington and he's a tremendous talent. Even when he was the only real receiving threat last year, he still tore the Eagles apart. Another major change for the Eagles is in the safety room with the departure of Malcolm Jenkins. The Eagles added Will Parks to the room but he will miss the first 3 weeks due to injury. They also retained Rodney McLeod; this could be a good thing or bad thing depending on which Rodney shows up. If another year away from knee surgery helps, then he'll be fine. But if last year's version shows up then the Eagles have a big problem. Lastly, the Eagles will be starting Jalen Mills at safety. Apparently, the cure for being a bad cornerback is a position switch to safety despite never playing it in the NFL. All that being said, the middle of the defense is slower and more unknown than it has ever been. LB1 is Nate Gerry. LB2 is Duke Riley. Mills is the new Jenkins. Will Parks is out. Does McLeod have enough left in the tank? Offenses are fast and innovative; the Skins lack a lot of talent on offense but their new offensive scheme could lead to some issues in the middle of the Eagles defense. If I'm Washington, I lean heavily on motions and play action to confuse the middle of the Eagles defense. Get guys who struggle to cover to cover your athletic RBs then take plenty of shots to Terry McLaurin. The Eagles are clearly better at CB than they've been in years but have considerable question marks in the Safety and in the LB rooms as it pertains to pass defense. Better CBs should lead to better pass defense overall but there are matchups to take advantage of. Washington might not be the best team to fully exploit these weaknesses, but they could.

Buy my shit: GMT Master II, and Two Planet Ocean half-GMTs
It’s time to thin my collection.
I’m throwing a few of my favorites up here to finance a couple of recent purchases further up the rep chain. Below are descriptions with goods and bads.
All prices are via PayPay friends and family or Zelle. As far as my rep goes, look up, I’m a goddamned platinum-ass member and I think pretty much everybody knows me. I’ve done several deals on here and I even took a shower today, so everything’s alright.
All prices include shipping, which I’d like to keep within the US if possible. Links include W2C and original prices I paid + modifications.
I'm open to reasonable trades, but I have enough U1 Subs to launch an armada and enough Date-justs to never be late again. But let's see what's out there.
Shipping out of Seattle.

This has been in my daily rotation for nearly a year. I am in love with this watch and am sad to see it go, but I recently bought the new Noob Sky-Dweller and I don’t need this many GMT watches because who the fuck can travel with a pandemic going on?
It features a 2813 movement hacked to create a settable and working GMT complication. The GMT hand is set by pulling the crown out to the date quick-set position and turning the opposite way.
It’s been regulated and keeps perfect time.
The bezel is bi-directional and has the proper number of clicks. The bezel insert is aftermarket. It’s from TaoBao. It’s ceramic and the same bezel insert that the high-end reps use, the digits even have that fancy sparkle inside. The bezel insert alone goes for $125 when bought retail, I paid about $35 including shipping. It is goddamned gorgeous, despite the dust and fingerprints in my photo.
The lume is the correct blue and bright as all fuck out, the dial is excellent, and the reheat is aligned perfectly. The only tell on this watch is the datewheel font, which is thicker than Kim Kardashian West’s prenup. For those that are new, this is common for this tier of rep watch. Crystal is sapphire and has the LEC at the 6 o’clock position.
It comes on a brand-new unsized jubilee band with oyster-style clasp and polished center links. It looks fantastic.

Asking: $60
I’m a huge fan of the Planet Ocean series, and a fan of GMT watches, so naturally I wanted one that combined these two flavors. This watch, sadly, is not it.
It looks fantastic at 42.5mm, but it has a slaved GMT hand: It tracks on 24 hours but is slaved to the hour and is not independently adjustable. This means that the hour hand and 24 houGMT hand always line up at midnight. It will tell you military time at the same time as standard time. Using the GMT bezel, you can tell what time it is anywhere in the world as long as you know how many hours ahead or behind it is from your local time.
This watch looks fantastic. The lume is correct and the Helium valve even opens, a rarity in reps at this price. It’s based around the Seagull ST1622, a clone of the 2813 + 24-hour hand. It’s been regulated and keeps great time.
My only gripes with this watch is that the date window is the incorrect white color and the bezel is aluminum, not ceramic as gen. Now, for many people the white date wheel is better, because they think it’s easier to read, so if that’s you, this is your watch. Same for the aluminum bezel.
If you’re the type to mod then this is a fantastic deal simply because it can be modded into pretty much any 42.5mm Planet Ocean you’d like. There are different PO dials and ceramic bezels on Ebay and AliExpress that can transform this $60 watch into a $110 in a few hours.
It comes on the original strap sized for a manly 7 ½-inch wrist. Deployant clasp has a divers extension for comfort. It’s a solid, great strap that I would have kept had I not already had a couple.

Paid: $69
Asking: $65 · SOLD
This watch is exactly like the one above save that it has a black date wheel instead of a white one. The exactly same movement, lume, and everything else.
As you can see in the photos it brand new and completely unworn. On the same strap as above but unsized, and still covered in plastic.
Again, all prices include basic shipping via USPS. Hit me up on chat or whatever with any questions and I’m happy to answer the best I can.

2020.08.28 22:19 OneNightStandKids A short story about Jinjer

Around 2013-14, I was in Germany and my friend was dating a girl who wanted to go to a show. Not knowing who was playing, I decided to go with them. We arrive at the show and it's a small venue maybe 100 people could fit. The local bands played and finally the headliner comes out Jinjer. They play a great show. The venue starts closing down but my friend's girlfriend's friend started talking to the bass player. So they allowed us to stay after they closed. The owner of the venue starts cooking outside and I notice that Tati started looking at me (I'm Mexican, it's relevant), and she gets close and starts sparking up a conversation with me. We make small talk and I ask hundreds of questions about them and told her she was amazing. She got me food and starts telling that she is fascinated by Mexican culture and that it's her dream to visit one day but she feels it's not possible due to visa and other business matters. I told her I bet one day they'll make it. She smiles we talk and some more we head inside the venue and start drinking with the band and one thing led to another, we converse, hung out and next thing we know it was 6am. She had sleep to continue the tour. Some things occurred throughout the night that got her upset and she told me that she thinks the band is done for. I tried to cheer her up and she smiles gave me a kiss on the cheek. We exchanged numbers, she gave me a sticker with her autograph.
Few weeks go by and we talk a bit throughout those weeks then as expected we lose touch. I had her personal IG and saw that they were getting bigger and bigger throughout the years. Heck she even went to Mexico!!! It made me happy knowing she got her dream come true.
Fast forward a few years later I think 2018? They are touring in the states! Their first tour! They arrive in Seattle, where I was living at the time. I went and saw them live. I stood there feeling proud of what they've accomplished. I bought merched, and wanted to say hi but had a date and didn't want to make things awkward for my date. I didn't want to tell her about the pass.
Glad to see they are still growing.
Edit: had photos of us on that night but when I told my ex about our encounter she made me delete my photos. The invite http://imgur.com/a/pfPVooF
The day I saw them http://imgur.com/a/2lzX5n8 Sorry for the potato quality on the second one

2020.08.27 09:39 HauntedSpy SKs you never might've heard of: The USA

Greetings. For a long while now, I've been compiling and continue to compile a long list of SKs (convicted and suspected) across the world, which have yet to receive an article on Wikipedia. I haven't run a countdown, but I do believe it might count in the triple digits by now. Anyway, today I decided to share one individual SK for each US state and territory, with a little information and a linked article/source to their crimes. I hope you find this information as fascinating as I do. Let us begin. ALABAMA: Curtis Grantham (1988; 3 victims) Murdered two women in Phenix City, burying them in a wooded area in Seale. Later confessed to the October murder of 32-year-old Dawn Ball, previously thought to be a victim of Christopher Wilder. Sentenced to life imprisonment. ALASKA: Gary Zieger (1971-1973; 6+ victims) Doubling as a member of a motorcycle gang who was paid to kill people, Zieger is also thought to be responsible for murdering at least three female hitchhikers around Anchorage. The true extents of his crimes remains unclear, and he himself was murdered along the Seward Highway in 1973. AMERICAN SAMOA: None to my knowledge ARIZONA: Michael Carlson (2003-2009; 3-9 victims) Shot dead his sister in Tucson in 2003, and later murdered a couple in Marana. Confessed to 9 murders in total, but his other victims, if there are any, haven't been found. Sentenced to death. ARKANSAS: Randy Gay (1978-2011; 3 victims) Murdered his father-in-law in 1978, served time and released. Murdered his father in 1991, released again. And finally, murdered a woman and dumped her body at Ouachita National Forest in 2011. Sentenced to death. CALIFORNIA: Pittsburg serial killer (1998-1999; 4 victims) Within a two-month period, four young women were killed in this little, tightly-knit community. It is believed that it's a work of a serial offender, and the Pittsburg police are searching for clues to catch him. Unidentified. COLORADO: Ronald Lee White (1987-1988; 3-16 victims) Murdered roommate and two other men in disputes/robberies, mostly surrounding Pueblo. Later confessed that he has killed 16 victims in total. Authorities believe that at least four cold cases around the state could be tied to him. Sentenced to life imprisonment. CONNECTICUT: Zackery Cody Franklin (2007-2011; 4 victims) Murdered four men around New Haven for mostly robbery purposes. Originally convicted for two homicides, later connected to the other two. Sentenced to life imprisonment. D.C.: Greg Brice (1994-1996; 4 victims) Shot two men in two separate instances for personal disputes. Escaped confinement in December 1995, and a few months later, murdered two men. Recaptured, and sentenced to long imprisonment terms. DELAWARE: James Gordy (unknown-1897; 1-4 victims) Battered his wife to death with an oar in 1897; suspected in the suspicious deaths of his father, ex-wife and their child. Executed in Georgetown in 1897. FLORIDA: Leon Holston (1964-1966; 4 victims) Murdered four young boys in Pompano Beach, while he himself was still a teenager. Sentenced to death, commuted to life imprisonment. GEORGIA: John Robinson (unknown-1901; 1-6 victims) Known as "The Colored Ripper", he was executed for the strangulation murder of a young black woman in Laurens County, whose body he viciously mutilated after. Five other similar murders were suspected to be his doing, but never proven. Executed in Dublin in 1902. GUAM: None to my knowledge HAWAII: Robert Mark Edwards (1986-1994; 2+ victims) Convicted of raping, robbing and murdering two female realtors, one in Los Alamitos, CA, and the other in Kihei, HI. The gap between his crimes, and their severity, leads me to believe he might have other victims, likely in California. Sentenced to death in California and life imprisonment in Hawaii. IDAHO: Gerald Pizzuto (1985; 4 victims) Murdered a woman and a man in Seattle, WA during robberies. Later moved to Boise, ID, where he murdered a couple in a remote cabin. Sentenced to death in Idaho. ILLINOIS: Michael A. Johnson, Jr. (2008-2010; 4 victims) Rapist who abused and murderd young women in Chicago. It's peculiar to note that he strangled them with a deformed right hand, which was missing three fingers. Sentenced to life imprisonment. INDIANA: Anna Cunningham (1918-1922; 5 victims) Poisoned her family members with arsenic in Gary. Sentenced to life imprisonment for one murder, but later paroled for unspecified reasons. Died a free woman in 1945. IOWA: Donald Piper (1993-1998; 2-4 victims) Hotel maintenance chief who stabbed and strangled two women in Des Moines, and is suspected of another two similar killings during that time period. Sentenced to life imprisonment. KANSAS: Mary Troy (1909; 3+ victims) Murdered at least three children in Topeka, all of whom were entrusted in her care. Possibly responsible for half a dozen similar deaths. Fate unknown. KENTUCKY: Michael Abner (1983-2010; 3 victims) Following his arrest for the stabbing death of an elderly man in Pulaski County, he confessed to two cold cases involving strangulation of old women, in 1983 and 1988. Sentenced to life imprisonment. LOUISIANA: Edward Augustine (2007-2011; 3 victims) Involved in a fatal car crash while driving a stolen vehicle in New Orleans, charges dismissed. Later, he and another man killed two men in Jefferson Parish. Rearrested and serving a 40-year prison term. MAINE: Constance Fisher (1954-1966; 6 victims) Mentally-ill woman who drowned six children, three each on two separate occassions, in Waterville. Confined to a mental hospital, but managed to escape and later drowned herself in the Kennebec River in 1973. MARYLAND: Patrick McCullough (1980-2001; 3 victims) Deaf man who murdered two employers (1980 and 1982) in Annapolis, and later his girlfriend in Waldorf (2001). After killing her, he shot himself through the head. MASSACHUSETTS: John Monteiro (2007-2010; 3 victims) Rhode Island man who murdered a man in Brockton in July 2007, and later shot a brother and sister to death. Sentenced to life imprisonment. MICHIGAN: Paul Harrington (1975-1999; 5 victims) Former Detroit police officer who shot his ex-wife and two children in 1975; sent to mental institution and released after two years. After living a relatively peaceful life for many years, he was fired from his job and stopped taking his medication, leading to him killing his new wife and son in 1999. Sentenced to life imprisonment. MINNESOTA: David Torgerson (1969-1973; 6+ victims) Murdered two Minneapolis women in 1969 on separate occassions, and later on, his wife, two children and the babysitter in Rochester. Suspected of more murders since the 1950s. Hanged himself before trial for killing his family. MISSISSIPPI: Columbus elderly murderer (1996-1998; 4-5 victims) In two years, five elderly people were murdered in Columbus. Three years ago, DNA evidence snatched a man named David Solomon Murray, from Pine Bluff, AR, as the killer of one of the victims, but we're yet to see if he's responsible for the others. Unresolved case. MISSOURI: John Wesley Robinson (1896-1913; 3 victims) Strangled a woman in St. Louis and later buried her corpse under the floorboards. Arrested, served 11 years and released. In 1913, he murdered his wife (April 11th) and his stepdaughter (May 17th), dismembering each body and burning the remains in the stove or burying them. Executed in Kansas City in 1915. MONTANA: Ah Yung (unknown-1883; 1-17) Chinese immigrant who murdered a paymaster in Missoula. Authorities suspected he killed a total of seventeen people (two white men and fifteen Chinese), but not much information is available about them. Executed in Missoula in 1883. NEBRASKA: Clarence Victor (1964-1988; 3 victims) Mentally-disabled man who murdered an elderly woman in her Omaha home. Had previous convictions for manslaughter and murder, in 1964 and 1976, respectively. Died in prison. Sentenced to life imprisonment. NEW JERSEY: Shiquan Bellamy (2010; 5 victims) Between February and April, murdered three men and a couple in Jersey City during robberies and an attempted carjacking. Sentenced to life imprisonment. NEW MEXICO: Clifton Bloomfield (2005-2008; 5 victims) Murdered five people around the state, including a couple. In 2018, he was aided in a prison escape by a guard, but was recaptured. Sentenced to life imprisonment. NEW YORK: Dmitriy Yakovlev (2003-2007; 3 victims) Russian immigrant who, together with his wife, killed three other Russian emigrants in Brooklyn so he could steal their possessions and bank cards, which he later sold off. Sentenced to life imprisonment. NORTH CAROLINA: Herman Allen (1930-1942; 4 victims) First murdered a boarder in his Johnston County home because he believed he was having an affair with his wife. Convicted of manslaughter and released 11 years later, still believing that people were oogling after his wife, he shot to death his wife, brother-in-law and a man he believed to have been courting her. Executed in 1942. NORTH DAKOTA: Floyd Tapson (1987-1996; 0-3+ victims) Suspected, but not convicted, in killing disabled women at group homes, two in MN (Moorhead and Wadena) and one in Grand Forks. NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS: None to my knowledge OHIO: Oliver Crook Haugh (1890s-1905; 3-5+ victims) Doctor who murdered his parents and brother in Dayton, and was tied to at least two further murders of concubines in Lorraine and Chicago, IL. Many patients of his, spanning across multiple states dating back to 1890s, died in mysterious circumstances as well. He was also a childhood bully to none other than Wilbur Wright, of the Wright Brothers fame. Executed in 1907. OKLAHOMA: Wayne Garrison (1972-1989; 3 victims) Vicious killer of two toddlers (1972 and 1974) and a 13-year-old Tulsa boy in 1989, whose dismembered remains were found in a lake. His 1970s killings were done while he was still a child. Sentenced to death. OREGON: William Perry Jackson (1980s; 5+ victims) Murdered and robbed people around Portland, sometimes with accomplices. Escaped prison with a convicted bank robber, but later recaptured. Suspect in as many as 30 murders in Oregon and Washington State. Sentenced to life imprisonment. PENNSYLVANIA: Jermaine Burgess (2008: 2+ victims) Career criminal who robbed and murdered two elderly women in Ridley Township and Upper Darby (October 27th and November 10th, respectively). Authorities believe he has committed other murders as well. Sentenced to life imprisonment. PUERTO RICO: Ángel Colón Maldonado (1985-1987; 27 victims) Known as "The Angel of the Bachelors", he lured men for sexual favors, and after he was given various luxurious items, he killed his lovers. Fled to the continental states, but was quickly recaptured. Sentenced to life imprisonment. RHODE ISLAND: Jeffrey Mailhot (2003-2004; 3 victims) Known as "The Rhode Island Ripper", he strangled and then dismembered three prostitutes in his hometown of Woonsocket. Sentenced to life imprisonment. SOUTH CAROLINA: Joseph Ernest Atkins (1969-1986; 3 victims) Shot his brother in North Charleston in 1969. Sentenced to life imprisonment, but his father pleaded for his release, and he was paroled in 1980. Six years later, as an act of gratitude, he shot his father and a 13-year-old neighbor on October 27, 1986. Executed in 1999. SOUTH DAKOTA: Rapid City Creek Drownings (1998-2000; 0-11+ victims) Suspicious deaths of homeless men in Rapid City, six of whom were Native Americans. They stopped just as mysteriously as they began, and authorities believe that they were possibly murdered by a serial offender who might've moved away, presumably to Denver, CO. Unsolved. TENNESSEE: Michael Mullins (1999-2012; 3+ victims) Career criminal and serial rapist who beat and strangled elderly women in Memphis. Strong possibility of additional murders and assaults committed by him. Sentenced to life imprisonment. TEXAS: Tommy Lee Stewart (1971-1986; 3 victims) Abducted and killed a woman in Waco in 1971. Released from prison in 1986 and moved to Port Arthur, where he later murdered a mother and child. Sentenced to life imprisonment. U.S. Virgin Islands: St. Croix Voodoo Poisonings (1984-1988; 5 victims) Five people were poisoned in St. Croix with cyanide, in what appears to be ritualistic slayings. Police suspect a conman, posing as an 'obeah man' (a type of shaman), to be behind the murders. Unsolved. UTAH: Thomas Noffsinger (1989-1990; 3 victims) Strangled and raped two women two months apart in Millcreek and Sandy, and later stabbed a Salt Lake City chef to death in 1990. Sentenced to life imprisonment. VERMONT: Gary Lee Schaefer (1979-1983; 3+ victims) Springfield automechanic who raped and strangled three girls in his hometown. At one time suspected to be responsible for other murders, but this hasn't been proven so far. Sentenced to life imprisonment. VIRGINIA: Walter Cotton and Brandt O'Grady (1898-1900; in the dozens, couldn't determine exact number) An unlikely pair considering the time period (black man and Irish immigrant) who robbed and murdered people around the state, mostly around Emporia. Both were lynched at Greensville by an angry mob in 1900. WASHINGTON: Donna Perry (1990; 3 victims) Known as "The .22 Caliber Killer", who killed three prostitutes in Seattle between February and March 1990. Interestingly, Perry is one of the few known transsexual SKs on record, committing the murders when she still identified as a man. Sentenced to life imprisonment. WEST VIRGINIA: Joseph Eisele (1867; 3 victims) German/Swiss immigrant known as 'The Parkersburg Murderer' who murdered three fellow immigrants for robbery purposes across the state between June and December. Interestingly, another self-confessed SK, Thomas D. Carr, admitted to being his accomplice in one murder, but this was unsubstantiated. Executed in Parkersburg in 1868. WISCONSIN: Alvin Taylor (1985-1988; 4 victims) Nightclub singer who murdered three men in Dunn and Eau Claire Counties, as well as one in the state of Minnesota. Sentenced to psychiatric treatment. WYOMING: Rawlins Rodeo Murders (1974; 4 victims) Over the summer, four young girls disappeared from rodeos in the small town of Rawlins. Only one body was found nine years later in Sinclair, while the others remain missing and are presumed dead. Royal Russell Long, a convicted kidnapper additionally suspected of killing two Oklahoma girls in the 1980s, is the prime suspect, although some theorize Ted Bundy might've been involved. Unsolved.

2020.08.25 00:31 TheTerrorUil A financial assessment on replacing courtside seats with advertising boards.

Everyone who has been following the NBA in the bubble has noticed the difference in aesthetics in the game. I personally think the lack of courtside seats makes the basketball game look better. I would also argue that it opens up oppurtunities for 'risky' plays at the edge of the court like Reggie Jacksons play yesterday against the Mavs. (assist on Kawhi three).
An argument which people are making against the idea on removing courtside seats is the loss of revenue for the team owners. But I'm wondering if LED advertising boards are financially viable as a replacement for the courtside seats.

The first step in this financial assesment is looking at what teams are making by selling courtside seats.
It is important to determine how many courtside seats are actually available in an NBA arena. I wasn't able to find hard data on this but by looking at this photo I was able to count courtside seats at approximately 250. I only removed seats closest to the baseline. Using the current layout which the NBA is using in the bubble.
Next thing I need is the price on those seats. Every nba team has different prices but I was able to find average prices (regular + playoffs) at this source dating back from 2018. The avarage price for courtside seats in the NBA is $1154,83.
Using this data an avarage team is making 250 *1154,83 = $288.708,33 per game on courtside seats.

Next up is to determine how much can be earned by replacing courtside seats with advertising boards. The NBA is currently using these LED boards in the bubble so you can easily envision how it would look normally. But without the huge screens which show the fans in the bubble.
To find advertising prices on these boards I checked out European football. Advertising boards have been part of football teams earnings for a long time. But finding financial data was quite hard. I have been able to find good data on an English second level club Birmingham. They sell their advertising space on the static LED advertising board for 600 British pounds per minute. Which is calculated to 784 US dollars.
When we want to determine for how much NBA can sell their advertising space, we have to account for the difference in league popularity. Birmingham FC currently operates at the EFL Championship. By looking at the difference in revenue between the NBA and the EFL Championship I can find a multiplier for the advertising costs. In 2019 the NBA had a revenue off 8,76 billion US dollars. This is 8,95 points bigger than the EFL Championships 0,978 billion US dollars.
Using this data we can determine that NBA teams can sell their advertising spaces for 784 * 8,95 * 48 (minutes played) = $336.806,4

Using this data I conclude that this could be an idea worth looking into for NBA teams. As they can make $48.098,07 more per game using advertising boards.

I have to add that this research I have performed should be taken with a grain of salt. I kept it pretty simple, made plenty assumptions and there are many factors I didn't account for, like:
- Difference in ad visibility between football and basketball.
- Actual fact checking off the data on NBA courtside seats.
- ETC

This analysis is meant shine another light on the courtside seat discussion. The conclusion is conducted by a reasonable interpretation of the data which I have presented to you.
I hope y'all enjoyed and I apologize for my broken grammar.

2020.08.23 22:15 ksweet_ my COVID wedding...

Hi - Here is my COVID wedding saga.
We got engaged in October 2018 and fell in love with the Foundry in LIC. We weren't in a super rush, so we decided to pick an October 2020 date...what could happen in 2 years, right?
Fast forward: COVID. My fiance's parents (mother has underlying health conditions) live in Singapore for work, his brother lives in Seattle, and his grandmother (90+) lives in Boston. My parents (mother has underlying health conditions), brother, and grandparents (90+) live in Arizona. We decided to cancel our 150-person wedding - we didn't want to have all of the costs hanging over our heads - but we still wanted to get married (a 2-year engagement was long enough). This has been the most painful part: My fiance's parents cannot come - aside from the strict guidelines from the Singaporean government, the long flight is just too risky. When we first broached the subject with my parents, they said "well, it wouldn't be right for us to be there if his parents can't be there" - I agree 100%. My parents still feel that way, but I know that, in reality, they'd do whatever they can to get here - drive a few days if necessary... As heartbreaking as it is, we figured, even though my parents could find a way to get here, it was better to not have either set of parents, and if we weren't going to have any parents, out of respect to them, we wouldn't have any family at all even though most of my non-immediate family lives closeby.
We then set out to plan a small wedding with ~10-13 of our closest friends: The plan is to have a small ceremony in a park and then have dinner outdoors at a restaurant. Only our parents and grandparents would zoom into the ceremony. My fiance's brother wants to fly in for it and is comfortable quarantining and adhering to NY's guidelines. We've extended the same option to my brother, but he's making a big stink about quarantining (he's not going to pay for a hotel here for 2 weeks and quarantine from his wife who is a naturopathic doctor going in the office and seeing clients daily; it's going to be complicated with work; etc.). He's also making me feel very guilty about my parents not coming...saying it should be up to them whether they feel comfortable or not... I also don't know how I'd tell my mother that he is (or might be) coming and that she still shouldn't.
I'm not sure what I'm trying to get out of this post, except maybe some validation that I'm not an awful person for wanting to just get married and be surrounded by some close friends. It feels wrong not getting married surrounded by our families, but that doesn't seem safe or possible right now. It also doesn't feel right to just have my family here and no one from my fiance's family. I want to be excited and make the day special, but I constantly feel guilty about disappointing my family. We hope to have a party someday down the line with both of our families, but right now we're just trying to make the best out of a shitty situation. SIGH.
...thanks for reading...if you have any insight, I'd love to hear it.
